Peter Houston picked up his second successive Manager of the Month award yesterday then set his sights on Falkirk closing the gap on Rangers and Hibs.
The Bairns are six points behind the Glasgow club in second and five behind Alan Stubbs’ men in third. But with Hibs travelling to Ibrox on Friday, Houston knows that a Falkirk win against Raith Rovers on Saturday could push them right back in contention for second place, with Hearts all but crowned league champions already.
“Hibs aren’t all that far away - they are five ahead of us. We have beaten Hibs twice this season, drawn once and we’ve still to play them at our place. Hibs also go to Ibrox on Friday night where something will have to give.
“If Falkirk were five points behind Queens I wouldn’t say that it’s insurmountable so why should I say it against teams like Hibs and Rangers?”
Houston is already plotting a Falkirk victory when they travel to Palmerston next month for a Scottish Cup quarter-final clash after being drawn against the Dumfries side on Monday.
“Everyone wants to go to Hampden Park.” he said.
