Falkirk lie eighth in the SPFL Championship table, but player/coach Alan Maybury says it’s not quite reflective of the league yet.
The Bairns are looking for their first home win of the season on Saturday when Dumbarton visit on the back of a strong 0-0 draw with league leaders Hearts.
But Maybury believes the start to the season, in which the Bairns have faced Hearts Hibs and Rangers, doesn’t tell the full story.
“It’s now that we have to capitalise and pick up as many points as possible because we have a run of seven games without meeting Hearts, Hibs or Rangers in the league,” said the defender. “We knew the way the fixtures came out it would be a difficult start but now it’s a chance to pick up points from teams in and around us and take advantage of our home games.”
A run of home games after an almost unprecedented series of away matches in league and cups is a welcome change for the Bairns and travel-weary supporters.
“Dumbarton had a great result against Hearts so will come full of confidence,” added Maybury.
“We know what it is like against Hearts after a heavy defeat so they had a commendable result on Saturday, but it’s now we start playing teams in and around us in the table.”
