Falkirk’s first team finally picked up their first win of the season when they won 2-0 at Cowdenbeath Ladies.
The squad had two narrow 2-1 losses in previous weeks, playing well but not seeing the results. This game was different and they were in control from the start, playing with confidence.
Midway through the first half striker Nicole Pullar put Falkirk in front when she slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net - her trademark finish. The rest of the half was evenly matched with the wind playing havoc with any high or through balls.
Early in the second half Falkirk doubled their lead when Jade Gallon’s well-weighted cornerwas headed by captain, Emma Lyons. Falkirk nearly had a third when they were awarded a penalty from a handball in the box, but Lyons’ shot hit the post and was cleared.
Elsewhere the Reserves had a comprehensive victory in their re-scheduled league cup tie today when they beat Fairfield Ladies from Dundee. Strikers Gemma Dawson and Lyndsay Hopper dominated with Dawson hitting four and Hopper her hat-trick. Taylor Johnstone also scored a hat-trick with Claire Scott scoring twice. Sophie Wardle, Aimee Thomson and Rebecca Cheape rounded off the 15.
