John McGlynn wants Falkirk to 'frustrate' new-look Hibs and create more Easter Road unrest

John McGlynn wants Falkirk to put Hibs under pressure in front of anxious home crowd.

John McGlynn has urged his Falkirk players to “try and take advantage” of the unrest around Easter Road this Saturday when the Bairns face fellow Scottish Premiership strugglers Hibs.

The capital club sit one place and one point above Falkirk in 10th position - with new manager Marink Reedijk looking for his first victory in what will be his maiden home match at the helm having replaced David Gray over the recent international break.

Hibs’ record at Easter Road in recent times has been horrific, with the team having only halted a record-losing league run recently with a draw against Aberdeen. They haven’t won at home yet this league campaign. Ultras group Block Seven have also been banned by Hibs’ hierarchy for this fixture after an incident at Tannadice last weekend.

And with all of that in mind, former Hearts gaffer McGlynn is hoping that his team can put Hibs on the back foot and make them “nervous” in front of a less-than-happy home crowd.

Falkirk boss is relishing Hibs trip

"For a club like Falkirk, going away to Easter Road is one of the biggest games," said the boss. "We see it like that, but we're not daft, we haven't buried our head in the sand. We know that things are not all rosy in the garden at the moment and we want to try and take advantage of that and frustrate them.

"We want to try and take the game to them and put them on the back foot and make them nervous. The Hibs fans weren't happy last week at Tannadice, so we've got to try and make sure they're not happy this week at Easter Road.

"If we can do that, and that can transmit from the stand to the pitch, when the new manager's trying to get his points and his style across, and if we can take advantage of them being a work in progress, then that's exactly what we have to do."

He added: “There is no doubt they are a work in progress. I am sure that the new manager learned so much from the Dundee United game. He said himself that it did not quite go the way it went in training beforehand. They are very high risk and reward. At times they play like a 3-1-6. It was very interesting to look over.”

Falkirk will still be without Joe Gardner, Keelan Adams, Aodhan Doherty and Ethan Laidlaw for the trip to Easter Road. The likes of Connor Allan and Aidan Nesbitt are available for selection.
