The Bairns hit half a dozen at Stark’s park and exhibited some slick link-up play in a performance far removed from the midweek defeat to the Shire.

The fans were in uproar even this early in the season, but they were purring again after this performance against the side who pipped the Bairns to the League One title last season by 0.04 points per game.

Indeed if that Shire reverse was the Bairns getting moving again after six months of inertia, then this had all the signs of a juggernaut rolling through the gears and momentum can be built from here.Again the goalkeeping duties were split between Robbie Mutch and a trialist - Sam Ramsbottom – and again more uncontracted players were in the Bairns colours, including Stephen Kingsley who can be seen on the club’s highlights package (below).

And the highlights, they were plenty. Trimmed down to eight minutes, it could have been ten times as much based on the Bairns play.

Calumn Morrison had an effort cleared off the line early on after rounding Robbie Thomson but he later laid on the equaliser for Anton Dowds to kick-start a man of the match performance from the former Hearts winger.

Quinn Coulson had given the home side the lead before former Rovers target Dowds tapped in a quick breakaway from two yards out.

Mark Durnan’s effort at a Morrison corner earned a penalty for handball and Morrison swept the Bairns into the lead.

Rovers equalised again with a spot-kick of their own when Morgaro Gomis was penalised in the second half but from then on, the Bairns took control.

A barging run from one of the attacking trialists carved space for Morrison to loop the ball back into the box and Dowds to skim in with a touch from close range, followed by a top corner effort from Aidan Connolly to make it 4-2.

Aidan Keena headed in on his debut before fellow sub Robbie Leitch scored with the pick of the bunch with the final kick, ending a flowing move with Scott Mercer, Conor Sammon and Connolly for number six.
