THE FALKIRK Stadium is the best football pitch in the First Division, according to Jay Fulton.
The midfielder was full of praise for the playing surface at home, after enduring an awful Palmerston Park.
“It wasn’t the easiest,” admitted the 18-year-old. “But I think we have the best pitch in the league at Falkirk – it really helps with the way we want to play and the passing game the gaffer demands from us.
“He wants us to play that way at every park and every team in the league but sometimes it’s really difficult.
“We’re lucky we can do it at Falkirk, but it’s not always going to go for us, so we have to be prepared to do what’s necessary and cope with conditions wherever we are.
“The pitch at Palmerston wasn’t good though.”
He’s not far wrong. Even Gus MacPherson bemoaned it, and the bobbling ball wreaked havoc – especially for Fulton who thought he’d scored when Kieran Duffie’s clever cutback fell into his path.
“I hit it but it bobbled just as it came to me,” he rued. “The goalkeeper made a good save some of the boys have said – I dodn’t see it though, I was too busy trying to make sure I kept it down.”
Fulton almost made up for the miss in the dying embers of the game – but hit the post. “As soon as I hit the ball I thought it was going in the top corner.”
