Falkirk drawn against Annan or Brechin City in Scottish Cup fifth round

Falkirk’s reward for beating Cowdenbeath 1-0 on Saturday is a home tie against Annan Athletic or Brechin City in the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

The Bairns were in this afternoon’s draw at Hampden Park, with former player/manager Owen Coyle overseeeing proceedings.

They will play the winners of a fourth round replay between Brechin and Annan at the former’s Glebe Park ground on December 9. The two sides drew 1-1 at the weekend.

Falkirk’s only competitive match against League Two side Annan was in 2011, when they ran out 3-0 winners in a Challenge Cup semi-final match at Galabank.

The Bairns last faced Brechin City in a Scottish Cup tie in 2006, when they edged out the Angus side 2-1.

The fifth round ties will be played on the weekend of February 7 and 8.
