John Baird has finally got his wish – four years late – as he became Peter Houston’s fifth January signing after leaving Queen of the South.
He has teamed up with fellow new recruits – and ex-team-mates Aaron Muirhead from Partick Thistle, and Mark Kerr from Queen of the South.
Falkirk boss Houston has also promoted Mark Finlayson from the youth ranks and is waiting on clearance to bring Ostersunds forward Taylor Morgan in on loan.
For Baird though, the switch to Falkirk has been a long-held ambition.
He told The Falkirk Herald: “I’m delighted to be here, it’s been a quick turnaround and funny I’m sitting with a player – Mark Kerr – in one dressing room, move club and he’s beside me again.
“Falkirk is a club I’ve always respected and when I walked in the door Alex Smith told me I’d been nipping his ear for four years to get here and now I’m here he’s warned me I better do the business!” The deal to sign Morgan has been held up by red-tape around his international switch between two football associations, but both he, and tall full-back Finlayson have been training this week.
