Jamie MacDonald will not be returning to Falkirk but the Bairns are at advanced stages with two players in key positions and are set to announce them shortly.

Last season’s number one signed for Kilmarnock, but the backroom team has been working to secure a replacement for him, and a striker, for several weeks and are close to announcing two players.

Fans have been particularly keen to hear of new recruits in the wake of MacDonald’s departure, and the well-known exit of striker Rory Loy. Speculation has been rife amongst supporters with names such as Kevin Cuthbert, Kris Doolan, Jon Daly and Liam Craig all suggested.

“They’re all good players,” said Creag Robertson when The Falkirk Herald put these names to the club this week.

The Bairns are remaining silent on all signings until the t’s are crossed and the i’s are dotted, but Robertson revealed “We are working on the two key positions – a goalkeeper and a striker.

“Two deals are almost there, so they will be sooner rather than later, and we are keen to ensure the players we are bringing in are the right players for the club and will improve the squad.”
