Falkirk are hoping to see at least two – if not all three – of their injured trio return to training in the next week ahead of the Betfred Cup kick off at home to Kilmarnock on October 6.

Blair Alston, Charlie Telfer and Josh Todd have missed all three of the pre-season friendly matches staged so far at home to East Stirlingshire and away to Raith Rovers and Hearts.

Todd missed the latter weeks of the shortened 2019-20 season after injuring his shoulder against Montrose in February while Telfer and Alston have also sat out recently.

Boss David McCracken is hoping they get back soon, though game time might be a stretch before Kilmarnock’s visit with the Bairns only having one match left in the pre-season diary.

He said: “They have picked up knocks and we’re hopeful we’ll see at least two or maybe three of them in training within the next week.

“We’re hoping to get them game time before Kilmarnock but it’s a situation we’re taking day-by-day.”

The Bairns are not finished with their squad yet either.

He added: “Some trialists have been in and one or two have shown up and we are looking to get another goalie in to cover Robbie. Hopefully more in the next week or so. We’re a little behind where we hoped we’d be but that’s football - a couple haven’t happened so we need to look at our options.”
