Falkirk announce Highland tour in summer 2012

Three Highland league teams - Fraserburgh, Turriff United and Formartine United - will provide wwarm-up opposition for Falkirk ahead of the Irn Bru Division One season 2012-13.

The Bairns went north last summer - facing Inverurie Locos and Peterhead before returning to Falkirk for matches with Hibernian and Leeds United.

This July they face another three teams on another tour as Steven Pressley prepares his side for another attempt at promotion to the SPL.

Games will be played on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in early July.

First up is former Celtic player David Hannah and Dundee goalkeeper Derek Soutar in Formartine United on July 9 at the club's North Lodge.

Turriff United are next on Wednesday, July 11 and the Bairns head for the coast on Saturday, July 14 when they face Fraserburgh.

According to the club website the squad will be based in the Peterhead area for the duration of the training camp, near to the Blue Toon where the Bairns lost to Rory McAllister goals last July. That friendly was also marked by Steven Pressley's fall-out with Jack Compton. The winger's performance at Balmoor prompted the player to leave the Bairns on loan to Bradford City, then to St Johnstone.

A mainly youth-based team faced the Highland League Loco Works side the night prior, where Kyle Turnbull shone alongside debutant Darren Dods and Ryan Flynn who was in the final throes of his Bairns career before a move to Sheffield United.

Kick off times for this year's games will be revealed nearer the time.
