EXCLUSIVE: Long-serving Falkirk director to step down

Changes at the Falkirk FC boardroom - Lex Miller will bring his 18-year spell on the board to an end.

Former Falkirk chairman Lex Miller will not seek re-election to the Bairns board at the club’s next AGM.

The director, who served as interim boardroom leader between the spells of Margaret Lang and Gary Deans will not stay on beyond his latest, extended, three-year term on the club’s board.

It will end an 18-year tenure for the local property investment and bathroom business owner, who will focus on family commitments away from the club.

Mr Miller’s son Zander has signed for Lowland League side Bo’ness United, while his daughter Allana has plans to emigrate and the local businessman plans to spend more time with them.

He said: “At the last AGM I said there were two aims – to turn the club around from a £700,000 loss and promotion.

“We achieved one of those but promotion did not materialise, and I think now is the right time to go. I have to thank Andy Thomson for his role in stablising the club’s finances again and to Martin Ritchie and Sandy Alexander for support over the years. I am pleased to see Kieran Koszary continue his great work at the club and on the board.

“The board is changing with new directors and a fantastic chairman in Gary Deans. I believe now is the right time for me and wish the board and the club well.”

Mr Miller was the last remaining director to sit on both the board and the club’s major shareholders’ group.

No date has been set for the AGM which will end his time in the directors’ box, but it is expected to be held in the next two months.

This week Falkirk players returned to training while off the pitch the club announced Alan Gow as the new head of football operations.
