After being informed the match could not be rescheduled Kilmarnock had the choice of fielding a reserve squad or forfeiting the match and have chosen the latter.

A statement released earlier from Falkirk FC read: “ The BetFred Cup fixture between Falkirk and Kilmarnock due to be played on Tuesday 6 October has been cancelled.

"Following the isolation of the Kilmarnock playing squad as a result of six players testing positive for Covid-19, the decision has been made to cancel the match that was due to take place on Tuesday evening at the Falkirk Stadium.

"Falkirk Football Club understand why this decision has been made, as the safety of the players and staff of both clubs is the top priority. We wish all those affected a full and speedy recovery.

"Due to the fact that this is a Betfred Cup fixture, the game will not be postponed and Kilmarnock will forfeit the tie, resulting in a 3-0 victory to Falkirk.

"This is not the manner in which Falkirk Football Club wanted to gain three points, but we accept this is the consequence of the competition rules for this season.

"We would also like to clarify that all Falkirk Football Club players and staff underwent testing on Thursday 1 October, with all producing negative results.”

With that match cancelled it means the Bairns now prepare for Friday night’s trip to East End Park where they face Dunfermline.

The Pars are also due to face Kilmarnock within the isolation period of the Rugby Park side’s first team squad but no announcement has been made yet regarding whether that fixture will be fulfilled.
