Despite that, both sides tried to have a go and had their chances but in the end had to settle for a share of the points.

The opening 25 minutes weren’t quite so affected by the wind and this proved to be the Bairns best spell of the match.

It started inside the opening 60 seconds when Callumn Morrison got a good cross in from the right and Mo Gomis connected with a diving header which went wide across the face of goal.

Sean Kelly had another excellent ball in which had no takers and Morrison again picked out Gomis but the second header was no where near as close as the Bairns exploited the wide channels.

Then on 25 minutes Falkirk were denied by a superb piece of defending as a lofted ball over the top by Gomis played in Morrison whose first touch took him around advancing Thistle keeper Kieran Wright leaving with an open goal but defender Darren Brownlie was on his shoulder the whole way and made a great last ditch tackle to send it behind for a corner.

After that the wind picked up and the game became scrappy with neither side able to hold on to the ball for an extended period of time.

Then with, half time approaching, Thistle had there two best chances of the game and Falkirk were lucky not to be going in to the break at least one goal behind.

First, a Cardle cross from the right found former Bairn Ciaran McKenna at the back post who played the ball back to Shea Gordon and his shot from 12 yards came back off the cross bar.

Just a minute later and the visitors were denied by the woodwork again as another former Bairn Zak Rudden saw his shot beat Robbie Mutch but come back off the inside of the far post to be gathered by the home keeper.

Both sides had chances in the opening 15 minutes of the second half with Josh Todd forcing Wright in to a good stop before the visitors found themselves down to ten men.

Rudden had already been cautioned for talking out of term then, after believing Connor Murray had been fouled inside the box, was shown a straight red card by referee Duncan Williams for foul and abusive language.

Both sides made changes with Falkirk introducing Robbie Leitch and Anton Dowds to try and take advantage of having an extra man but in truth it didn’t change the match at all with the conditions still dominating more than either side.

Dowds did head wide from a Leitch cross as the subs combined but there wasn’t much to talk about after the sending off and the game ended all square.

It was the second meeting of the sides this season and the second draw, albeit two very different draws, as the two full times sides in League 1 still can’t be separated on the pitch.
