All football below the SPFL Championship has been suspended since the end of December and for the Shire gaffer thinks there isn’t enough time left to see out all the remaining fixtures in their division.

Speaking to The Falkirk Herald, he said: “I've no doubt that the league officials will be trying their best to get us back and get the season finished as they see fit.

"I was optimistic previously but the longer the delay goes on the less optimistic I become that we can complete a full season in the timescale needed before we come to players contracts expiring and other issues.

“I'm confident that the league will put measures in place to get us back to football and see us through but I think, given how many fixtures there are, it will be extremely difficult now to complete the full season with all the added complications around Covid and training.”

One option that he been touted, including by Ure’s Bo’ness United counterpart Max Christe, was a potential top and bottom half split in the Lowland League, something the Shire gaffer sees as a ‘sensible’ option.

"That's something I've heard being mooted and, in these circumstances, it it could prove to be a sensible option to get the season completed.

"Normally I'm not a fan of splits, I don’t like seeing a team in finish on more points than another but finish below them, but we just want to get back playing as soon as possible in a safe environment.”
