DRAWING TO A CONCLUSION

NOT FOR THE NERVOUS

That's the beauty of live Sport I suppose. You couldn't have written that script. It was like the good old days of the transistor radios pressed to the ears with news of goals, misses, incidents and chances flying in from Kirkcaldy and Paisley You could picture the expressions on faces as the emotional roller-coaster continued. Draws in all five Championship matches. There's still a lot to play for- but that was definitely a case of two points dropped. Farid- how could you?

MONEY TALKS

The top three in the Highland League are Brora, Cove and Formartine. The richest clubs are Brora, Cove and Formartine. Their catchment areas are small, but the sponsors have piled the money in. The route into Senior Football is open to them. Imagine Stranraer v. Brora on a wet and windy Tuesday night in November? Don't worry- it might be on BBC ALBA.

UNCERTAIN FUTURE ?

Had to feel for those Villa fans who watched that abject humiliation in a 4-0 hammering by Chelsea. A year ago they were dreaming of an FA Cup win, but disastrous decisions off the park and a lack of effort and commitment from experienced players ruined a once-proud club. Highly-paid foreign mercenaries couldn't have cared less. Who says they won't even fall further?

FRIENDLY FIRE

Do we really need these International Friendlies? You couldn't give tickets away for the encounter against Denmark. Two different teams against the Czechs and the Danes, but thankfully there was no over-hype in the football media. They are just training matches and the "crowd" at Hampden said it all- a mere 18,355.

UNFRIENDLY FIRE

The same can't be said about another fixture- the impending clash between Rangers and Celtic. Page after page of build-up and we are a long way off the fixture. Views of former players, show -biz fans and anyone else who cares to voice an opinion is splattered all over the back pages. Politicians of course are in their period of purdah and can't dare express an opinion.Scotland has moved on in so many ways in the last few years, and it is to be hoped that the game doesn't take us all backwards.

THE RUN-IN

As a famous ex-Bairn once said- it's squeaky bum time again. Banana skins abound- and Dumfries was always going to be a potential one. You can't count fixtures and multiply them by three to get a potential points tally. Alloa's relegation is the only given. Peter Houston will make sure the players focus on the next game.
