I’ve lost track of how long we have been in lockdown. One day seems to blend into the next.

It’s not until your routine changes that you realise how much time you spend away from your home and how much you take it for granted.

I find the weekends the most unusual.

I’m determined to try and not fall into the trap of spending it like another working day. I miss the routine of Saturday football.

Stenhousemuir Football Club is like its own small community, and I miss the interaction with supporters, the visiting clubs, and the drama on the pitch.

However, as we enter what is hopefully the first stage of exiting lockdown, hopefully it won’t be too long until we’re back playing.

I think the news is starting to change. The doom and gloom is lifting a little so hopefully this trend will continue. Football may initially return behind closed doors.

I know that we want to be part of that if we can.

Football without fans is our least favoured option, but if that gets us started again then so be it.

We can make that work until we can get a limited number of supporters back through the gates.

There will clearly be a lot of work to do to make that happen and the safety of players, staff and supporters has to be the main priority.

However, it’s as important to us as it is to the biggest clubs to get the season underway.

Teams south of the border are starting to get back to training and this will give us the opportunity to observe and learn and I hope that over the next couple of weeks, we’ll get more information from Government that will give us the timescales we need to allow us to make the necessary preparations to get our game back.

Looking at the game in general, there continues to be discussions on reconstruction.

We’re all a bit jaded by it. Until we know that there is an appetite for change at the top of the game, then we’re not going to spend a great deal of time on it.

Change would be welcome, as would a new format, but the SPFL is resistant to change, particularly in the Premiership.

Will reconstruction happen? I doubt it.
