Our free summer camps for our Warriors in the Community members continued this week, despite the challenging weather. Only one or two sessions fell foul of the conditions. It’s just typical of the Scottish summer that the weather seemed better when we were unable to leave our homes.

Our Community Help Initiative has carried on, with our volunteers continuing to support local households who need a bit of extra help. I was delighted to see us pick up an accolade from the Commonwealth Games Scotland body that represents and promotes the interests of 28 recognised Commonwealth Games sporting bodies in Scotland.

Stenhousemuir FC won the public vote which was in recognition of our community help efforts. All of our volunteers deserve this recognition and continue to have our thanks for everything they have done and continue to do for local people.

Our women’s team is back in training and are recruiting for new squad members ahead of the new season starting. The Scottish Women’s Football league is hoping to start around the same time as the remaining divisions within the men’s professional game which would be October 17. All of this will be subject to meeting stringent COVID-19 requirements. The club is looking ahead to pre-season training for the men’s first team starting back towards the end of this month.

With the Premiership underway I know our own supporters are itching to see local football get back started. We are inching ever closer, but we do need everyone to continue following the Government advice on social distancing so that more parts of society can continue to get back to normal.

I listened to the Government’s health advisors state that is very unlikely that there will be any fans in grounds before October at the earliest. It is quite likely that there will be limited numbers as well due to social distancing.

I can assure supporters that we are planning for this scenario and looking at innovative ways where we can ensure that our games can be attended, be it in person or virtually.
