Taking part in the competition for only the second time ever the Mariners travelled to Highland League side Deveronvale and left Princess Royal Park with their name in the hat for Sunday’s draw after a 4-1 win.

Stephen Docherty, Mark Stowe and a Connor McMullan double secured the win and their reward is a home tie on Boxing Day against Highland League champions Brora Rangers.

Mariners boss Gordon Herd said: “It's a great occasion for the club and everyone connected.

"We went up to Deveronvale not quite sure what we'd get but the boys turned up on the day and were excellent- it was 4-1 and it could have been more.

"It's great for Camelon and the community that we can put the place on the map and do our bit in the Scottish cup.

"A home tie is all you ask for, the Scottish Cup is the luck of the draw, we'd maybe have preferred a more favourable tie.

"Brora will be a difficult test, they're the Highland League champions, but we know we can give anyone a game with the players we have.

"It's a difficult tie but it's one we're looking forward to testing ourselves in."

That match will take place on Boxing Day but before that Camelon have league matters to get back on their minds.

They welcome Tynecastle to Carmuirs Park this weekend in their latest Premier Division fixture with just three points separating the Mariners in seventh and their opponents in 11th.
