Brown: I'm confident we will avoid relegation

Third bottom Stenny currently sit just three points ahead of Forfar who occupy the dreaded second bottom position.

Brown – speaking after his side lost a last minute goal to draw 1-1 at Airdrie in last Saturday’s League One clash – said: “We have been performing at the right level.

“We need to take that into the remaining three games of the season.

“We are in the right league position as it currently stands.

“We have picked up four points from our previous three matches and all the games were tight.

“There is nothing between the teams in this league.

“The sooner we get three points the better, because that will ease a bit of pressure.

“I’m confident we will pick up the points required in the remaining three games to stay in the league.”

Stenny could easily have picked up three points against Airdrie at the weekend, but were denied by former Warriors player Alan Lithgow’s last gasp equaliser.

“Losing that last minute equaliser at Airdrie was a right sore one for us,” Brown said.

“It was a real sickener for the lads not to take the three points.

“It has been like that in all our games against Airdrie this season, because we’d scored late goals to beat them in our previous three encounters.

“Our performance and endeavour against Airdrie was good enough to get the three points.

“When you don’t get them it is disappointing.”

Stenny’s next bid for three points will come with a home game against third-placed Ayr this Saturday.

“Ayr have turned us over a couple of times this season,” Brown said.

“We were punished for having two bad 20-minute spells in those games.

“We need to be at it throughout the game this time and take the game to Ayr.

“If we stand off them, they have players who can hurt us.”

Stuart Malcolm is suspended and Jim Paterson is doubtful with a back injury, but Kieran Millar returns from injury and Euan Murray and Ciaran Summers are back after suspension for the vital clash.
