Bonus time as Stenhousemuir take on top two

Manager Brown Ferguson insists that anything the Warriors can take from the games should be regarded as a bonus - which might just take any pressure off his side.

He said: “Dunfermline are going for the title and the last time we played them at home we were outclassed.

“But when we played them at Dunfermline in our last match I felt we were the better team.

“We go into these games knowing that anything we take from them is a bonus but if we approach the matches with that mentality it could give them the freedom to go and play and we have players who are capable of causing problems for any team.”

Ferguson also took comfort from his side’s display in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Albion Rovers, despite his frustration at not getting the victory he felt their efforts merited.

He said: “It’s the first time we have taken a point at Cliftonhill in something like seven years but to be honest it was game I thought we deserved to win.

“I was really pleased with our performance in what were very difficult conditions and having gone one up we would naturally have liked to have taken all three points.

“The pitch was incredibly heavy and bobbly and while we tried to play football it was very difficult for the players.

“But to dominate the game in the way we did was very pleasing. The goal we lost wasn’t down to a mistake but was the result of an opportunist first time strike which took a deflection so we can’t be too critical of the performance.”
