BENCHMAN: In or Out? Shake it all about...

Watching from the south stand, The Benchman saw a lot more than the officials.

NOT FOR THE NERVOUS

That final fifteen minutes was a real nerve-shredder. Hibs 2-0 ahead, Queens down to 10 men and Morton starting to come forward in numbers. It wasn’t pretty to watch, but we got there. To split Rangers and Hibs was a great achievement, but nothing has been won yet. The extra days will prove a real bonus as injuries get time to heal. In any other time, we would be up- as runners-up. Well Done, Bairns.

IN OR OUT?

I have never seen such poor decision-making by the so-called referee assistants. On Sunday, one ball bounced off two of the Grangemouth cooling towers, landed on the top of the Grange Manor hotel and ricocheted back into play. No problem says our man- carry on, chaps.

STRIPPED FOR ACTION

The general verdict is that the away strip is a corker. There are clearly limits to what you can do with navy blue and white, but for me a red element is crucial in any Falkirk kit. A forlorn plea. What about a revival of the post war kit- navy blue with red sleeves(Arsenal style). Looked good in pictures I’ve seen.

WHO, WHAT, WHERE?

Talk about clarity? The arrangements for the play-off games and the impending Scottish Cup Final must have given the SPFL bureaucrats a real headache. Hotels were booked, flights arranged and even weddings planned. The season isn’t over until it’s a few days before the pre-season friendlies begin.

ANSWERS

Last week’s mystery pic was Bobby Keyes and Jimmy Harrower was signed from Newcastle United.

TEMPUS FUGIT

Hard to believe that next season is the 60th anniversary of the 1957 Cup win. Ten years ago there was a tremendous event in the Hotel Cladhan when the surviving members of the team gathered. Sadly, since then a few more of the heroes have passed away, but there are plans to have another night to remember that epic story of league survival and cup glory.

AWARDS NIGHT

A tremendous night in the Inchyra when the club put on a show that was absolutely top drawer. The new abbreviated format went down well, and the bonds between players, management, directors, sponsors and supporters were clearly evident. Well done to the organisers for a great night.

PROGRAMME COVER

A brilliant cover for the Morton programme. It captured the spirit of Big Gordy exactly-and his expression said it all. One to treasure.

From which club did Falkirk sign Angus Plumb?

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

How on earth can there be TWO Hibs players in the list of nominations for the Championship Player of the Year? The Team of the Year contains Danny Rogers, Peter Grant and John Baird and surely one of them deserved to be in the player list? Peter Grant’s nomination is impressive and had he not been injured, would surely have been a strong candidate.
