I can’t recall a season with so many stings in the tail, but thankfully this time we were on the right side of the outcome. Blair Alston has scored some vital goals for the club, but this one could be so vital. The news from Recreation Park was the icing on the cake.

The second half was under way when the ubiquitous media man Connor Park arrived with a box of pies for the assembled press pack. Good to see the Bairns support rallying round the family of Gordy McFarlane and they have already raised a significant sum to help with modifications to his house to enable him to return home. Those who know him will appreciate the tremendous amount of work he did for Falkirk F.C. and just how much the club meant to him. It was obvious by the welcome given to Gordy by every player and manager Peter Houston at last Saturday’s match. “Happy with that Gordon,” the manager asked him in the press room afterwards. “Brilliant Peter, sir,” was the reply.
