Nicky Devlin reckons the Ochilview pitch could be Stenny’s secret weapon when Rangers come to visit on Ramsdens Cup duty.
The all-League One clash has been moved from the original October 13, 2013 date to Tuesday, October 29, and the match will be screened live on BBC Alba.
And Devlin doesn’t think the Glasgow giants will fancy the synthetic surface down Gladstone Road.
“Speaking to Nicky Law, I don’t think Rangers will fancy coming to play on the astro at Stenny, but it could hopefully be a leveller. They’re a better team than us but they’ll be playing on a surface that a lot of people have said isn’t the best, there are maybe better surfaces to play on buthopefully we’ll get them on an off day and we play alright.
“It’s possibly the hardest draw we could have got, there are a couple of other teams we might have fancied our chances a bit more against but if you want to progress we need to beat the best that’s left in the competition then so be it, the boys will be up for it, no doubt about that and we’ll see what happens.
“It’s not many times you get to play Rangers. We play them two weeks before we’re due to play the cup but that’s at Ibrox, so we’ll see how they like coming to Stenhousemuir and playing on the beautiful surface we’ve got compared to their park at Ibrox.”
The date afor the tie was switched as Sunday, October 13 is an international weekend.
