Peter Houston will go head to head with his former team-mate Steve Evans tomorrow night.

The flamboyant Scottish manager of Rotherham will be re-united with Houston who he lined up alongside for Albion Rovers in their playing days.

Championship newboys Rotherham are preparing for next season in the English second tier after securing promotion via last term’s play-offs and the match at the Falkirk Stadium is the latest of their warm-ups north of the border.

“It’ll be a tough game,” Peter Houston told The Falkirk Herald. “They are a good side preparing for a tough season ahead of them, and it’s one we are looking forward to.

“I’ll also be meeting up with Steve who I know well and have kept in touch with over the years - he has done well there by earning them promotion.

“We played together at Cliftonhill - though the Steve now is a little different from Steve then!”

Houston hasn’t read too much into the defeat at Woking where the Bairns went down 3-2 after goals from Blair Alston and Rory Loy, but he’s looking to step things up within the next week ahead of the competitive games beginning on July 26.

“Woking were a few weeks ahead of us in terms of their preparation. I also made very few subs to ensure our guys got as many full games as possible. We can do better but friendlies are not so much about the results - we are focussed on East Stirlingshire a week on Saturday when the cup games begin.”

Scott Shepherd is back jogging and Kieran Duffie is also returning to fitness however Craig Sibbald remains on the treatment table with a medial ligament problem.

The Westfield Lounge will be open from 5.30 p.m. prior to the Rotherham match.
