Many of the games in the East of Scotland league were called off due to poor weather conditions, but the Mariners were given the go ahead and made the most of it with a thumping win at Carmuirs Park.

Alan Docherty came close to opening the scoring on 10 minutes before a Mark Stowe penalty did so seven minutes later.

Just two further minutes had elapsed before Alan Docherty added Camelon’s second.

A potential third was ruled out for offside on 29 minutes but it finally arrived on 35 minutes through midfielder Conor McKenzie.

The teams went in at the break with Camelon three goals to the good and 10 minutes into the second half Stowe got his second goal to make it 4-0.

A fifth almost arrived on 68 minutes when David Morrison hit the bar from a Stowe corner and Jack Denham sent the rebound over the bar.

To their credit, Swifts hauled themselves back into the game which to all intents and purposes looked well over at this point.

Firstly they pulled one back through a Robert Kinnaird penalty on 73 minutes and then just five minutes later the same player made it 4-2, but any concerns over the most unlikely of come backs were banished just 60 seconds later when Greg Skinner grabbed the Mariners’ fifth.

Two minutes into injury time Ross Allum completed the scoring to make it 6-2 to Camelon, which saw them move up to sixth in the Premier Division table.

This weekend Camelon travel to play Deveronvale in the Scottish Cup.
