Swimmer Charlotte McKenzie was the most successful of Falkirk and Grangemouth’s FIRST team at the British Championships and Olympic qualification trials in London this week.
The Falkirk Otter reached the semi-final of the women’s 100m backstroke open, after finishing 20th in the heats. An 11th placed finish in the semi-final wasn’t enough to take her through to the final, but coach Steve Tigg told The Falkirk Herald last week, the event was “all about building experience of major competition”.
McKenzie was also 35th in the 100m butterfly heats and Julie Hunter 47th.
Kayley Davidson was 62nd over the same distance finishing the breastroke in 1.18.73.
Rebecca Murray was inside the top 30 at the 400m freestyle, while Ian Elrick finished the 200m butterfly in 1:18.73.
Yesterday, Ross Muir was 39th in the 56-man heat of the 200m backstroke, finishing in 1:18.73 at the national aquatics centre in London.
Scotland’s Robbie Renwick has already qualified for this year’s Olympics.
