FALKIRK’S players did their bit to lift the club out of crisis mode, at least for an evening with two goals in three minutes.
Steven Pressley omitted team captain Burton O’Brien from the starting line-up to play Partick and handed the armband to Thomas Scobbie. There was also a debut for young midfielder Blair Alston who was joined in the starting line-up by Stewart Murdoch at centre half.
The changes rang true for the uner-fire Falkirk boss.
A medicore first half for both sides was only enlivened by Chris Erskine’s curling shot hitting the bar for Partick Thistle.
After controlling much of the play in the first half, Partick were matched in the second half by Falkirk and although they rarely troubled keeper Scott Fox, Alston beat him with a fine strike on the 63rd minute counter attack.
Carl Finnigan extended an overdue scoring streak with a headed second and took the ind out of Partick on a chilly night at Firhill.
Willie Kinniburgh knocked in a consolation goal for the hosts with a minute to go.
