Falkirk members enjoy return of tennis with great (net) accord!
Despite lockdown curtailing activities members returned to the court with great enthusiasm after more than three months after guidelines changed.
Welfare Officer at the club Margaret Christie ran a singles box league event for seniors and juniors to make up for the lack of league play this year.

Hide AdAs July came and restrictions were further eased this allowed the rest of “The Oldies” section to restart their Monday and Thursday social doubles with strict social distancing between matches policed by club veterans Alan Johnstone and Brian Ferrier.
The success of the Box Leagues gave Margaret and her son Mark the idea to run a fun team event – Falkirk’s version of “The Davis Cup” with a total of 46 players, from Div One Men and Women through to Yellow Ball junior and Veterans from the Oldies group, competing in singles and/or doubles matches for one of four countries.
This extremely successful and competitive team event should be completed by the end of September, allowing Club Championships to commence in October.
The summer camp for the juniors welcomed 24 children all having a ball from Monday to Saturday and many thanks from the tennis club goes to Allen Gibson who has decided to retire from junior group coaching to focus on other ventures.

With Club Championships just around the corner Covid or no Covid thanks to the kind of sport tennis is, and the enthusiasm of the club members, this summer has been one if not THE.. most successful for the club.
