The club’s COVID-19 officer Steven McLaren updated members on the new procedures which will need to be followed under the new - but welcomed - return to play for cricketers.

Among the continuing restrictions will be a lack of toilet facilities over the coming sessions, and a strict restriction of access outwith the set training times.

Booking to take part in training is now required and Steven told club members: “The system is now live on our own Pitchero website.

“This information has been forwarded to the players Whatsapp group also. I will draw attention in particular to a couple of things for clarification.

“No training can take place out with these agreed times unless a Covid monitor is present namely myself or Pete Moses, Nicky Rodgers, Ryan Rainsforth, Peter Quinn and David Grant.

“We will commence Junior Training again on Wednesday July 8 under the supervision of Denico Hollis and coaches drawn from the senior squad.

“There will also be a booking system in place for this and we will be in touch by next weekend with parents about how this will operate.

“Again I repeat from the above - no training will be permitted outwith this evening unless a Covid monitor is present and I would appreciate if parents could emphasise this to their children as we are now in the school holidays and ordinarily a trip to the nets is likely.”

The club is also preparing for the clubhouse to open in future including the sourcing and buying personal protective equipment for the bar staff and additional signage required.

Like all other clubs, Muir are continuing to monitor the guidance from the Government for future advice.

Steven added: “It is my and the rest of the Covid committee’s hope that this can be relaxed as we see reduction in the numbers continue and we move to phase three.”
