KIERAN Duffie travelled to Austria with Scotland’s under-21s this week, but admits though he was delighted to be noticed - he was surprised after a quiet start to the season.
“I don’t think I’ve played as well this season as I did in the last one, and that’s something I need to put right quickly. But to be called-up was a big boost and it shows the selectors are always watching, know what you’re capable of and keeping you in their thoughts.”
Duffie didn’t feature as Scots lost 3-2 and missed out on qualification.
And although Falkirk’s first-choice right back wasn’t involved he had a talk with Billy Stark over his future aspirations.
“He told me it was important to be involved in the qualifiers because I am young enough to be considered for the next campaign.
“It was just good to be involved, but I am looking forward to getting back into playing again.”
Steven Pressley sympathised with Duffie missing the action, but was pleased with Stephen Kingsley’s performance.
“Stephen has come back in positive mood and quite rightly because he did well when he featured for Scotland.
“It was unfortunate for Kieran not to feature but he will have gained invaluable experience and his call-up was very much merited.”
