Following home victories for fellow MGM Scotland fighters Michael Roberts Junior and Lewis Benson, Beattie powered to victory against Sheffield’s Qasim Hussain.

The result was in no doubt as Beattie, backed by a noisy following from Falkirk and watched by former Rangers striker Michael Mols, went to work on his English opponent. Dominating the ring, he kept command of the fight for the full four rounds and it was no surprise when the judges awarded the fight to Beattie, who is backed by Kilsyth Golden Gloves and Grangemouth’s Sparta gyms, by 40 points to 36.
