Kieron Achara scored 18 points as Team GB opened their Eurobasket campaign with a win.
Israel pushed them all the way and led by seven as the final quarter closed out.
But the British team hauled the tie back and levelled at 66-66 before firing another nine points in Overtime to win 71-75.
Achara - who has played for Glasgow Rocks after coming through the ranks at Clark Eriksson Fury in Falkirk - scored 18 and rebounded 13 in his 35 minutes on court.
Another former Fury player - Ali Fraser - remained on the bench and will wait to make his senior Great Britain debut.
After three years at Maine Black Bears, Fraser is moving to Germany to play next season.
The Scottish pair are joined in the British side by a third Scottish player - Glasgow Rocks’ Gareth Murray.
Team GB are in the Eurobasket group of death, including Germany, Belgium and Ukraine and play France tomorrow night (Thursday).
