Fairview International School's annual Honours Day celebrates student achievements
Students at certified International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum School, Fairview International School, Bridge of Allan, were celebrated for their exceptional achievements over the past year during the Annual Honours Day.
The ceremony, attended by faculty, students, and their families, saw the school’s top-performing pupils receive awards for academic achievement, outstanding effort, and the coveted Global Citizens awards for distinctive contribution to the school and wider community.
Author, dedicated conservationist, and advocate for Scotland's natural environment and history, Peter Wright MBE attended the occasion and inspired students with the story of his remarkable journey.
In 2005, Peter walked the 1,200 km Watershed of Scotland, an endeavour that underscores his commitment to environmental conservation. Peter has also made significant contributions to the Duke of Edinburgh Award, for which he received the MBE, and played a pivotal role in establishing The Green Team.
Risk taking is important
During his speech, Peter Wright emphasised the importance of taking risks, resonating with the IB learner profile attribute of being a Risk Taker. His insights encouraged students to embrace challenges and pursue their passions with determination and courage.
On a mission to raise funds for The Green Team, Peter is currently cycling 860km from the Mull of Galloway to Duncansby Head. Donations can be made at www.greenteam.org.uk/petes-pedal-for-young-minds/.
Headteacher David Hicks said: “Our students have worked incredibly hard throughout the year and our Honours Ceremony is the perfect opportunity to recognise their efforts and achievements, both personal and academic, in front of peers, faculty, friends and family.
“Here at Fairview, our personalised approach to learning, coupled with small class sizes, supports our students to excel on their individual learning journeys by recognising and nourishing individual strengths and talents and supporting students to have confidence in their own abilities.
“I would like to extend our thanks to Peter Wright for his inspiring speech, supporting the theme of the day, risk taking, one of the core learner profiles which underpin the IB curriculum delivered here at Fairview. We are very grateful to Peter for making a special stop at Fairview while on his incredible fundraising journey and wish him all the best in completing his challenge.”
Taster days before application
Admissions at Fairview are open all year round and the school offers personalised visits and non-committal taster days, allowing students to try an IB Education.
Earlier this year Fairview announced a 3-year tuition fee cap to support families through the financial crisis. It is hoped that the school’s commitment to withhold from increasing fees for the next three years will help ensure continued affordability for its parents and enable families to financially plan for their child’s future education during a time of heightened financial uncertainty.
Starting from the upcoming academic year 2024/2025, the fixed fee structure is guaranteed until June 2027 with the option for families to join at any point in time.
Scholarships at Fairview covering up to 100% of tuition fees are available for academic passion, excellence in performing arts and sporting performance.
