Looking back: Pupils in Denny school drama, 1976

Denny High School this week presented '˜The Lion In Winter', a play set in the castle of Henry II at Christmas in the year 1183.

An amusing explanation of political intrigue at that time, the play, which had a three-day run from Wednesday to friday, made excellent use of the school’s small drama studio with capacity ‘‘crowds’’ limited very much to around 50 people.

Outstanding performances were given by Anne Shanks as Queen Eleanor and David Lindsay as King Henry II and the assured characterisation of Prince John by 16 year old Jim Ferguson also caught they eye.

All in all, this was a successful team effort, with the various departments of the school all contributing to a polished presentation.
