The Next sale is starting early this Christmas - when to get discounts in 2020

As retail outlets close their doors on Christmas Eve, they are usually gearing up for the biggest event of the trading calendar - the Boxing Day sales.

However, due to the unforeseen national lockdown on non-essential businesses across Scotland, this will not be the case in 2020 and so shops may be more enthusiastic about encouraging shoppers to spend before they close.

It may come as no surprise then that retail giants, Next will be launching their post-Christmas clearance event before 25 December. Here is how you can grab a bargain.

When is the Next winter sale in 2020?

While the sale is set to be in full swing on 26 December, there are already a host of best buys in the Clearance section of the Next Website, as of 21 December.

VIP customers signed up to receive emails from the store will get first access to the sale before it officially launches.

From 21 December, VIP members already registered will be able to shop 50% off Next clearance items.

You can check if you are a VIP member by logging into your Next account through this link.

If you do not have a Next account, you will not have access to the early-bird sale.

However, all is not lost if you are not on the VIP list.

Sales are expected to start slightly earlier for everyone, with money expert Martin Lewis predicting a 50% discount will be available on Next’s main site from Christmas eve.

Will the Next sale be online and in store?

It is expected that customers will be able to shop the sale on Christmas Eve, should it launch early.

However, due to coronavirus restrictions, there will be no stores open in Scotland on Boxing Day and those who visit shops on Christmas Eve may need to wait outside in queues as social distancing continues despite the Christmas rush

The online sale will continue despite lockdown restrictions.
