Popular ‘90s film Father of the Bride, starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton, will soon return for a reunion.
Netflix has teamed up with co-writer Nancy Meyers to gather members of the original cast, including Martin and Keaton, alongside Kieran Culkin, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and George Newbern, for what will be a combined reunion and mini-sequel.
The mini-sequel is also set to feature “a few special guests.”
Reunion in aid of charity
The mini-sequel, named ‘Part 3 (ish)’, is in aid of charity World Central Kitchen, and will be hosted on Netflix’s YouTube and Facebook channels on Friday 25 September 2020, at 3pm PT time, which will be 11pm in the UK.
The first Father of the Bride film, which saw Steve Martin’s character of George Banks walk daughter Annie down the aisle, was released in 1991.
The 1995 sequel saw Martin’s character welcome both a child and a grandchild, who will now both be aged 25.
Addressing what the character of George Banks would be like today, Producer Nancy Meyers, “If he thought a wedding was a lot, how would he react to 2020?”
You can watch the Netflix trailer for the mini-sequel on YouTube.
