Gorgeous teen Zaira Afzal is hoping to get support from Falkirk to reach the finals of a beauty pageant.
Zaira (13) has reached the semi-finals of the Miss Teen Queen UK, beating competition from 19,000 applicants.
She was flown down to London for a professional photoshoot and it’s now up to friends, family and neighbours to vote her into the finals of the Teen Princess 2012 section of the pageant.
Zaira, from Denny, has wanted to model since she was tiny and the competition is her first step into the career.
The schoolgirl, who is transferring from Denny High to Graeme High today, said: “It’s all I want to do and I am so determined to get to the finals.
“I loved taking part in the photoshoot and I’ve done a couple now.
“All my family are so supportive of me and have been texting and phoning the voting lines but I need as many votes as I can get.”
The competition closes on Monday and only the top two of the 38 finalists will go into the next round which takes place in London in August 2012.
Gran Moira Michia said: “Ever since Zaira was a baby people have told me and her mum she should be a model.
“She has very striking eyes and strangers are always commenting on them.
“She is really confident in front of the camera and this is her dream but her mum and I are always telling her to stick in at school too.”
Siblings Sahdia (22), Imran (20) and Rizwan (11) have all been voting for their sister as well as mum Donna, a carer.
Zaira, who had her first professional photoshoot done when she was in primary seven, is currently in the top ten but needs a last minute push to make the grand finals and win a modelling contract as well as clothes, cosmetics and a holiday.
She added: “Even if I don’t make the finals of the pageant, I still want to pursue modelling.
“I have a modelling portfolio and I’m going to send that off to some agencies and hopefully get taken on by one of them.
“I know I’m young but most models start out as teenagers.”
