Young blind pianist Ethan Loch who wowed the audience at New Lanark last year returns for another performance in the village this Thursday, when Music in Lanark welcomes the Yehudi Menuhin School Ensemble.
Ethan, the blind boy from Falkirk who gave a solo concert last May to launch Music in Lanark’s Piano Fund, will be the young musician performing before them on the programme. He is now 11, and at St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh, a sister school of the Yehudi Menuhin School, and he will be playing the piece he composed for his appearance last year, “Wallace at Lanark”.
“He walked up the Falls to listen to the sounds which to him reflected the tragic history of Wallace and Marion, and it is a remarkably mature piece of composition,” said Music in Lanark’s Jamie Hill.
The concert is at 7.45 in The Institute; tickets £12.50 (£1 school age) from Memorial Hall Box Office, on-line from www.musicinlanark.co.uk or possibly at the door.
