Work on the long-awaited visitors centre at the Helix Park will begin in January.
Costing £1.45 million, it will be located next to the park’s star attraction, the Kelpies, and will boast a restaurant, shop, toilets and visitor information.
It will also house an audio visual experience and will be operated by Falkirk Community Trust on behalf of project partners, Falkirk Council and Scottish Canals.
The work is being funded by SCORE environment, which distributes money raised from landfill tax, as well as cash from the partners, Scottish Government and Big Lottery.
The council said difficulties securing the full funding and programming work caused delays. However, the contract has now been awarded to Maxi Construction of Livingston with work due to start on January 12.
