Billy Buchanan and Robert Spears, who both represent their respective areas of Bonnybridge and Grangemouth with a fierce passion, have now become embroiled in a war of words after Baillie Buchanan lodged a formal complaint against Councillor Spears over alleged “disgraceful conduct” at a public meeting in Grangemouth High School on March 13.

In his complaint to the council’s chief governance officer Rose Mary Glackin, Baillie Buchanan stated: “I began to wonder if he was drunk as this was not his natural behaviour.”

Councillor Spears responded: “He was the convener at the meeting and I was never called out by him at the time. This is completely politically motivated and verging on the ridiculous.”
