Police say that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He can now be named as 19-year-old Kieran Swinton from East Lothian.

The emergency services were called to the scene at 8am after reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A803 Stirling Road west of Kelvinhead Road.

This had involved the van and a coach en route to a private school in Hamilton.

The driver of the bus and another man, who was a passenger in the van, were both taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital and released after treatment.

Now police are looking for motorists who have information about the fatal crash.

Sergeant David Stenhouse from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell said: “The area would have been busy with rush hour traffic around the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell on 101.”
