Wedding of the Week: Fiona Kay and John McLaren

Fiona Kay (24) is from Denny and is a scheduler at Stirling Council, while John McLaren (25) is from Banknock and is a payroll administrator at Mitie. The couple stay in Denny with their three dogs, Cooper, Walter and Derek.

HOW THEY MET: They met through a friend back at school and John charmed Fiona on their first date to McDonald’s. They have been a couple since April 2010.

THE PROPOSAL: John proposed in the Balquhidder Glen, Stirling on August 29, 2015. Fiona said: “I moaned all the way up, dressed in my summer clothes with mud up to my knees– I didn’t suspect anything at all. As John says, after five years together this was the first and only time I was lost for words.”

THE WEDDING: They were married at The Three Kings in Shieldhill on December 17, 2016 with 100 day guests, and a further 100 at night. Fiona said it was a dream come true.

WEDDING PARTY: Chief bridesmaid was Katherine Verel, bridesmaids were Debbie Brown and Caroline Smith Taylor, flower girl was Sienna Kay and best Man was Alan Love.

HONEYMOON: The couple spent a few weeks in New York and Las Vegas.
