Wedding of the Week: Debbie Young and Paul Howie

Debbie (42) is a psychiatric nurse in Falkirk. Paul (42) is a security delivery driver who's originally from Ayrshire. The couple live in Redding.

HOW THEY MET: At an engagement party in Glasgow 11 years ago.

THE PROPOSAL: This came just months later when the pair spent their first foreign holiday together. Benidorm was the place where the deal was sealed. Both have been married before and Debbie swore she would never wed again but Paul clearly had other ideas!

THE WEDDING: At Beancross. A total of 60 guests attended during the day and 120 at a big disco party at night.

THE WEDDING PARTY: Debbie’s 18-year-old daughter Shelley was the bridesmaid along with Paul’s 13-year-old daughter Sophie. Sadly both mums of the bridal couple passed away shortly before the wedding and Debbie’s mum Margo would have turned 66 on that day. A dove was released in her honour.

THE HONEYMOON: Debbie and Paul have never been on a cruise before but that will change in the autumn when they take to the Mediterranean in a belated celebration.
