The warning, which comes into place at 9pm tomorrow (Wednesday) and runs until 10am on Thursday, covers the majority of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The weather forecast for Falkirk over the next few days shows a chance of snow late on Wednesday night into the early hours of Thursday morning.

People are advised to expect longer journey times by road, bus and rail; some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

A warning for snow and ice has been issued for most of Scotland

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Showers are expected across the northwest of the UK from Wednesday evening onwards, these falling as sleet and snow even to low levels at times away from exposed coasts.

“Some accumulations of snow are expected, mostly above around 150m where more than 2cm is likely in places.”
