The River Carron burst its banks, provoking some to argue on social media that more should be done to ward against flooding, and besides yesterday’s dramatic scenes from Camelon’s Stirling Road (captured by photographer Michael Gillen) areas including Bainsford and Langlees were among those to suffer.

Road closures - sometimes ignored - included Stirling Road, the A883 Checkbar to Dunipace, A8004 Checkbar to Bonnybridge and Denovan Road, Dunipace.

Council road teams were working on the network yesterday, and were set to begin again at 5am this morning.
