HEAVY snow brought more misery to Falkirk district this week.
Over six inches blanketed the area on Monday, covering miles of roads that council gritting crews had battled for days to keep open.
Trains and buses were cancelled or subject to major delays and the Arctic wipeout left thousands of families trapped in their homes unable to get to the shops or their work.
Every school was closed and Central Scotland Police urged motorists to stay indoors unless their journey was absolutely necessary.
At yesterday (Wednesday's) meeting of Falkirk Council, chief executive Mary Pitcaithy defended the roads department's efforts to beat
the miserable conditions.
