The Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel are being shown as top attractions on the national tourist board’s global avertising drive in a bid to woo more visitors to Scotland.
The move could mean more overseas visitors flowing into the district and bringing a much-needed boost to the local economy.
Councillor Adrian Mahoney, Falkirk Council’s tourism spokesman, said: “It’s great to see The Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel play a starring role in the new VisitScotland ad campaign.
“I hope it will build on our local efforts to attract more people to the Falkirk area. We want visitors to stay longer and spend more money in the local economy. International campaigns like this are very welcome.”
He added: “The main ads, and the supporting online mini films, which are on YouTube, are stunning. I would encourage people to check them out.”
Mr Mahoney is also urging people to join VisitScotland’s social media campaign and tweet about their visits to local attractions using the hashtag #scotspirit.
Liz Buchanan, regional partnerships director at VisitScotland, said: “The new TV ad and online films featuring The Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel really are breathtaking so I’m sure they will inspire many more people to come to explore the attractions of Falkirk and the wider region.”
