Video: Tower blocks demolished in Glasgow

This is the moment three blocks of flats were torn apart in just five seconds as part of a controlled demolition.

More than 6000 individual charges and around 180kg of explosives were used to bring down the old apartment blocks in Cardonald, Glasgow.

Around 340 neighbouring properties were temporarily evacuated to allow the three 22-storey blocks at Tarfside Oval to be safely demolished.

In the immediate aftermath, several cars were left covered in dust from the blast.

The high rise blocks of flats, which had lain empty for the past year, were demolished as part of plans for regeneration in the area, on the advice of the local community.
