The 21-year-old student from Larbert was the first contestant to go before the judges on tonight’s edition of The Voice.

He performed This Ole House in front of Will.i.am, Boy George, Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson on the BBC1 show, won last year by former Denny firefighter Steve McCrorie.

Despite getting the crowd - and most of the judges - on their feet he failed to win a mentor.

However, he drew plenty of praise with the panel who couldn’t believe such a deep voice came from someone so young.

But it won’t have come as a surprise to those who saw Colet - who joked his distinctive tone came from his mum’s chicken soup - become the Falkirk Herald’s Voice of 2011.

Hundreds packed into City Nightclub to hear the then 17-year-old schoolboy blow the judges with his rendition of Happy Rhythm.

Since then he has performed at the relaunch of The Falkirk Herald as a tabloid and our annual business awards.
